Fraction Monkeys

We have been looking at fractions this term.

We are able to find the fraction of a whole number and are now looking at Equivalent fractions. This means fractions that have the same value.

Here is a fantastic game to help you practice.

Remember when turning fractions into equivalent fractions (so they have the same denominator) whatever you do to the denominator (multiplying or dividing) you must also do to the numerator. This is to ensure the fraction stays the same.

Middle School Auditions

Middle school auditions will be taking place tomorrow afternoon and on Thursday after school 4:30 - 5:30pm.

This year's play is 'Fleeced' based around the story of Jason and the Argonauts.

Bushcraft

These are the pictures from our Bush Craft night away! Have a look to see us taking part in team games, cooking our own lunch, learning to trap animals and light fires, building shelters and most importantly the toilet!
It was a fantastic experience and we all (including Miss Morrell and Miss Evans) had a brilliant time.

We will be leaving school tomorrow morning at 9am.
Please ensure that you have packed everything on the list, we are only staying for one night so please do not pack anything more, the children will have all their stuff in the tents with them and we do not want any valuables to get lost.
Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning and hope you are all as excited as we are!

FARM TRIP!

Tomorrow Prep 4 will be going on their trip around local farms, come rain or shine!
Please come into school in your games kit and ensure that you have with you a waterproof coat/school red coat and a pair of wellies. The chances of rain showers are high.
We are going to the farms as part of our Geography topic for this term, 'Farming'. We will be meeting farmers, looking at different crops, animals and machinery and seeing how farms are run.
It is always an exciting and enjoyable day.

Eyjafjallajokull challenge!

In theme week we were studying Iceland. We looked at last year's eruption of Eyjafjallajokull and were unsure how to pronounce such a long word. We decided to have a go interpreting it ourselves, we then found a clip on the internet showing it's correct pronounciation. Have a look at our two attempts, but first, have a go yourself!

Simulations

Prep 4 have been enjoying their new 'Simulations' ICT topic this term. We have used this model car simulation in class this week. Click the image below to download the file and try it at home. How far can you get the car to travel? How fast can it go? Have fun!

We survived Prep 4 challenge!

We had a great time on prep school challenge, working well together and enjoying all the different activities. We started by setting up our own tents which were up and secure by lunch time. The teachers were lucky as their tent was set up as the example, much to their releif. We then took part in lots of team buliding activities with all of the children getting the chance to lead at least one challenge. We finished of the day with 'Prep 4's got talent' around the camp fire and who knew we had so many talented movers and shakers. Here are some of the pictures of us in action. Some of our write ups will follow.

We had to sort out our own menu and learn how to budget.

If they were stuck in the wilderness they would be fine.

Are you prepared for Prep Four Challenge?

Tomorrow is a normal start, meeting in the classroom before assembly. However the children must be in games kit and have their red coats (or waterproof) with them. We suggest that their shorts should be underneath their tracksuit as it looks as if tomorrow may be rather warm.
Please drop off any camping equipment and bags in the front hall before coming upstairs.
A check list should be with you this evening but again we would encourage you to pack lightly.
We are all looking forward to the experience and the challenge!

Please use this as a way of keeping up to date with what we are doing. It will be a chance for you to see the work the children are producing, a selection of photographs as well as a place to read some of their work.
